Seasons come and seasons go, and with my busy schedule, by the time I catch up and realize it, the season is generally over. That's a problem, because I live in a four season state, where we get winter, spring, summer and fall and each season, although mild, shows its personality through the weather.
Because of our lifestyle, our geographical placement in the nation ( we live in the PNW ) our needs differ from in each one and so having outerwear to navigate, stay warm and protected, is critical.
This year, with the help of Dick's Sportswear, I was able to get a headstart. Now, I am going to be honest with you. I don't put a lot into jackets and shoes, for myself or my children, but I know that those items along with jeans are where I like to invest a little more heavily and intentionally. I had never been to Dick's before my most recent trip and I really was amazed by all the options they had, all the different brands they carried (like Doc Martens and Birkenstocks) and the variety of items I could find for every member of my family. It might have been my first time, but I can assure you, it won't be my last. (*Siri, remind me to visit Dick's for our spring haul*).

Why is Outerwear Important?
We absolutely LOVE to be outside in all seasons and our profession and lifestyle has us outside ALL of the time. As photographers, who meet our clients on location - we are liable to be on a windy beach, in feet of snow or on a hike - and with our children in tow at 95% of our shoots, it's important that they are outfitted well too.
I always forget to buy coats, boots and shoes with the seasons and elements in mind - fashion is at the forefront of my mind, but I often overlook function - and with these fun purchases from Dick's I get the best of both worlds.
What I love most about our recent shopping experience was not only how stylish the items were, but how well made, affordable and lightweight they are. The girls look forward to putting on their coats now, instead of leaving them behind.
I recently got to sit in and learn about all of the new products and offerings that Dick's Sportswear has for fall and winter season and I was honestly so shocked by how fashion- forward and adaptable the pieces were. Layering is huge this season and so many of the items by today's favorite brands: Pantagonia, The North Face, DSG (Dick's Private Label) and Columbia Sportswear, are great for building into your wardrobe, wearing with or over your normal pieces and are perfect for adding on or taking off and building comfort into your look, and the VERY best part? They can all be found at your local Dick's Sportswear.
Winter coats and footwear for the WHOLE family, keeping the elements in mind, Dick's Sportswear has products that are ready for anything, everyday and everywhere, helping you to stay cozy and to take it outside. This seasons trends allow for you to layer and extend your style while also keeping you warm. Parkas, zip-up styles and pullovers are in heavy rotation all season long, taking you easily from fall to winter in a simple outfit change. Good Morning America did an amazing piece on Dick's Fall/Winter picks and you can check it out here.
My family LOVES being outside. Our photography business keeps us outside and in the elements all year long, so it's important that we are able to bundle up and conquer the cold, so that we can zip up and head out, take on new adventures and explore new grounds and Dick's Sportswear makes it so we can do just that. From crisp fall mornings in Wright Park to winter snow at Mt. Rainier, I love that my whole family is excited about our purchases and cannot wait to wear what we purchased. In addition, Dick's DSG private label brand ranges in size XXS to XXL in Men's, Women's and Youth and 1% of all purchases give back to The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation to support youth sports.
Here's a quick break down of the few pieces we grabbed on our shopping trip:
Ike picked up a new Patagonia Men's Nano Puff Jacket in orange (pictured above), the Columbia Men's Flare Gun Stretch Flannel, which is so incredibly versatile and can be dressed up OR down, worn with jeans or khaki, tennis shoes or boots, in the leaves of fall or in the snow of winter, and a pair of UGG Australia Men's Ascot Slippers for lounging around the house.
I got something that has been on my list for years: The North Face Women's Gotham Parka in black, that should arrive today - I can't wait to share it with you. I also got a fun The North Face Women's Cragmont Fleece Jacket that is a completely sustainable piece; designed with 100% recycled polyester. I couldn't let Ike have all the fun, so I picked up the UGG Women's Fluff Yeah Slippers in Black and a pair of
